BYSO’s biggest event of the year is September auditions! With over 500 musicians auditioning, we heavily rely on volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly and effectively. Shifts are just 2.5 hours long and positions include: registrar, point person, warm-up room coordinator, and audition escort. High school students are especially encouraged to help, as you know the audition process and young auditionees can look up to you for guidance.

Auditions will take place September 7 and 8 at Jubilee REACH in Bellevue and September 9, location TBD.

All information regarding auditions, audition levels, and what to prepare, can be found under the Enrollment tab on our website. Audition registration will open in mid-August and auditions will be held Sept. 7, 8, and 9 in the Bellevue area. SMI campers have been practicing diligently this week in preparation for their concerts this Friday, July 26. All musicians will perform twice, first at the chamber ensemble concert from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, and then again with the full orchestra from 2:00 pm – 3:15 pm. Families and friends are invited to either concert or both! The concerts will be held at Westminster Chapel in Bellevue.

Musicians – concert attire is your camp T-shirt that you received on Monday.

Campers are asked to leave directly after the orchestra concert, as there will be no after-care available.

BYSO’s Summer Music Institute camp starts today. Musicians, make sure to bring your instrument and lunch. Camp starts promptly at 9 am and ends at 3:15 pm. Arrive 15 minutes prior to start time this morning for check-in. For more details, check your email and contact the BYSO office at 425.467.5604 with any questions. Parents and friends are all invited to BYSO’s Summer Symphony camp concert this Friday at Westminster Chapel. All students will perform twice, first for the chamber concert at 10:30 AM and then again for the full orchestra concert at 1:30 PM. All are welcome to attend either concert or both!

Remember there is no after-care following the concert. Students are expected to be picked up promptly after their orchestra concert.

BYSO’s Summer String musicians are working hard this week in preparation for their camp concert on Friday afternoon. All families and friends are invited to attend. Check your email Thursday for concert details. Campers – don’t forget to wear your camp t-shirt on Friday!

Today is the first day of BYSO’s Summer Strings Camp! Camp starts promptly at 9 AM. Campers, please arrive 15 minutes early today for check-in. Bring your lunch and instrument every day this week. BYSO will provide snacks and water bottles. Check your email for more details about camp location and student pick-up/drop-off times. If students are picked up late or dropped off early, they will be charged for extended care.

We need some help this 4th of July at our booth for the Bellevue Family 4th celebration. This is especially a great opportunity for high school students. Shifts are just two hours and involve selling water and occasionally talking to interested families about BYSO. After your shift, you can see BYSO’s summer orchestra perform on the main stage. BYSO’s summer camps are just around the corner! Sign up for an advanced, intermediate, or beginner-level camp session. A week in summer camp typically involves orchestral and small ensemble work, an elective choice class, and a performance at the end of the week – all while having fun.
