Safety Measures

Safety Measures – 3/5/26

Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra is committed to maintaining safe, secure, and consistent programming for our students, especially during times when events outside our rehearsal and performance sites may cause concern or uncertainty. The well-being of our students and the stability of their learning and music-making experience remain our highest priorities.

As an organization that serves hundreds of young musicians across multiple sites, BYSO prepares for a variety of circumstances that could affect normal operations. Our planning is guided by our mission and values and is designed to support calm, thoughtful, and coordinated responses if adjustments are ever needed. In all situations, student safety, care, and continuity guide decision-making.

BYSO has internal safety and security procedures that are managed by our administrative leadership. These procedures are intentionally structured so that students are shielded from adult-level processes and decisions. If an issue were to arise at or near a BYSO site, leadership would handle next steps, allowing conductors, coaches, and teaching artists to remain focused on students and rehearsal routines as consistently as possible.

We are careful about not sharing operational specifics publicly. Real-life situations vary, and responses require professional judgment in the moment. What families can be assured of is that plans are in place, they are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and they are meant to provide stability and care—not alarm.

BYSO is a welcoming and inclusive organization where every student deserves to learn, rehearse, and perform with dignity and respect. We do not collect or track immigration status, and we are deeply committed to supporting all members of our community.

Thank you for the trust you place in BYSO. We remain dedicated to offering a safe, supportive, and steady environment for music-making, even when circumstances beyond our spaces feel uncertain.
