The World Harmonies International Music Competition is an external, internationally recognized event organized by the Seattle World Harmonies Foundation. Open to young musicians in piano, string, and wind divisions, the competition provides an opportunity for students to showcase their artistry through video submission and be evaluated by a panel of professional adjudicators.
Multiple winners are selected across age and instrument categories, with top honors including cash prizes, recognition on the World Harmonies website, and invitations to perform at a Winners Recital in Seattle. Registration opens November 15, 2025, with submissions due January 19, 2026.
Participation is optional and independent of BYSO programming. Interested students and families should review all rules, fees, and requirements directly through the competition organizers.

Opportunity from BYSO Clarinet Coach, Mary Kantor | 12/1/25
Hello Clarinet Students and parents,
Next summer, I will be teaching in Italy at this Festival: https://www.interharmony.com/
I will be there the second session, July 14th to the 26th. It will be my 4th time going back. Location is the NW part of Italy, the Piedmont. One of my colleagues put together this fun YouTube about the festival from the clarinet teacher’s perspective:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aMTkLBgNyY
In it, you see the many performance opportunities for the clarinet student: lessons, Masterclasses, orchestra, chamber music, and solo performances.
A parent of a student who went 2 times has agreed to share their email in case you need more information:

The culture, the other students, mostly from the US, and the food make it an experience to treasure!
Ciao,
Mary Kantor,
