BYSO Concerto Competition – Registration Now Open

BYSO’s annual Concerto Competition provides opportunities for outstanding student musicians to perform advanced solo repertoire in concert. Auditions are held in November each year. This year’s auditions will be held via video, and the winning videos will be shared with the rest of the BYSO community during December.

Registration for BYSO’s 2020 Online Concerto Competition is now open. Submission deadline is November 18th at 5 p.m.

Who May Enter

The BYSO Concerto Competition is open to members of our Youth Symphony, Philharmonia, Flute Orchestra, and Percussion Ensemble. Students must be currently active participants in BYSO.

A student in another BYSO ensemble who is extremely advanced on an instrument other than the one he or she plays in BYSO (for example, piano) may enter the competition on that instrument with the permission of the Music Director and Executive Director.

Flute Orchestra Composition

Flute Orchestra musicians were asked to compose a two-measure short melody in the key of C. The final compilation, arranged by William Linthicum-Blackhorse, turned out beautiful. Have a listen!

Please Be Patient

We appreciate your patience as the office staff works through an unprecedented amount of email while generating rosters and setting things up for Monday. Please do not email multiple times on the same subject –  it can cause confusion and delay our ability to respond. Please expect that it may take 36 to 48 hours to respond to emails, not counting weekends.

All students should have received their small ensemble assignments yesterday (Thursday) via email. If after checking your junk, spam, social, and promo folders, you are still unable to find this email, please fill out our Audition Results Form. We will get back to you as soon as we can.

All ensemble information, including rehearsal time and director messages, can be found under the Ensembles tab from the menu bar.
