Awards
Awards offered to students with BYSO
Charlotte Field Memorial Scholarship
This BYSO tuition scholarship was established in 2005 with funds from the Charlotte Field Memorial Trust to honor an outstanding graduate of BYSO.
For 2009, the applicants need to be, or have been, a member of BYSO since Fall 2004 and need to be accepted as a full-time student to any accredited four year undergraduate college or university. Application forms and information are available after January 15 of each year, with the deadline of March 1 for completion. In keeping with our commitment to encourage the whole person, the recipient need not be a music major.
The 2008 recipient is Jenny Keith, a graduate of Cedar Park School in Bothell, now enrolled at Trinity Western.
Jenny writes:
Thank you so much for awarding me the Charlotte Field Scholarship. Thank you also for all the opportunities BYSO has given me to grow as a musician and as a person. I've enjoyed my involvement in the various orchestras and my time at summer camp. I've also appreciated the opportunities BYSO has give me as an intern at summer camp--I've been able to grow so much from those experiences.
The 2007 winner was Brent Russell, attends the University of Idaho; the 2006 Winner was Alyssa Williams, attends Western Washington State University; and the 2005 Winner was Spencer Cahoon, attended Brigham Young University.
