About the Youth Symphony Orchestra

Youth Orchestra 2007-08

Youth Symphony provides a chance for advanced students to tackle the works of the great masters as well as new music composed especially for them.

The typical student is age 15 to 21, and has had significant private instruction, as well as school and extra-curricular ensemble experience. Members must have a high degree of technical proficiency and must look forward to a challenge.

Repertoire may include pieces such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, and Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals.

The conductor of the Youth Symphony is our Music Director, Dr. Teresa Metzger Howe.  You can email her at youth@byso.org
