Flutes

Welcome to another great year of fluting! Thanks for a great rehearsal.... see you at the retreat! Missing Forms can be found at the end of Mrs. Saathoff's message.

Hello!

Each week we will use this website as our primary means of communication with students and their families.  Please get into the habit of checking it regularly.

The Flute Orchestra is off to a great start! And they should be working on Peter and The Wolf (beginning to letter K); learning all the notes/rhythms/dynamics/articulations/etc up to tempo.

The Flute Choir is working on Simple Gifts.

Kate and I plan to see everyone this weekend at our retreat.  Don't forget to bring your instrument/s, music, a music stand, pencil, and tuner (if you have one).  Chromatic Tuners and Metronomes are great tools to use when practicing!

Here is the retreat schedule/location information:

Ali Ryerson to visit Seattle
Ali Ryerson has emerged as one of the most exciting and versatile flutists on the scene today!
She will be presenting an introduction to jazz workshop and short concert for flutists on Monday, October 20th at 7:00 pm in Bellevue.  Everyone is welcome to attend!
The event is a fund-raising effort and proceeds from tickets sales will be used for the purchase of an alto flute for the Bellevue Youth Symphony’s Flute Orchestra.
BYSO flutists will get in free as this is in place of their normal rehearsals (but they should plan to bring a friend, as this is a fund-raising event).  Tickets are $10 each.

Private lessons with Ali are also available in Seattle between Friday, Oct. 17 and Monday, October 20th.  Lessons will be $75/hour.  If interested, please contact Sandra Saathoff at flutes@byso.org for more information and to schedule a time.

Visit Ali Ryerson's website for more information.
