The Flute Orchestra is an auditioned flute ensemble consisting primarily of BYSO flutists from the Premiere, Sinfonia and Youth Symphony orchestras. Other flute students may participate as well, with director's permission.  Flutists have the opportunity to work in this small ensemble and to rotate into the orchestras one or two quarters per year.

The ensemble performs regularly – at BYSO concerts and throughout the community; including special flute events at Town Hall and Benaroya Hall in Seattle.

Students prepare music encompassing the entire flute family: piccolo, traditional C flute, alto, and bass.

The BYSO Flute Orchestra, under the direction of Sandra Saathoff, is a dynamic group where students can develop ensemble and specific flute-related skills in an enjoyable and rewarding setting.
